Happy Thanksgiving!

Whew!  I’m exhausted.  I decided to make the move to WordPress.com and here I am.  Welcome to queue.  As this year comes to a close, my plan is to make the writing my first priority; and therefore, my new blog’s focus is all things writing.  The novel, the life, the quest for time to write and like minded people.  I am a writer and it’s high time I started acting like one.

The novel is in the revision stage.  I even refer to it as Re-Vision to remind myself to stay open to everything new that it offers.  The hardest part about revising is letting go of all the things I adore about the last draft.  I loved the last draft, which I’ve dubbed the Paris Draft because it’s the draft that I work-shopped at the 2006 Paris Writers Intensive Tutorial.  I enjoyed every moment of the week I spent in the City of Light.  More importantly, I had the privilege of sharing my novel in its entirety with a wonderful group of writers and they gave me much needed feedback.  Their comments, along with my sister and my first reader, Michele, gave me millions of things to think about.  As crazy as it seems, I then spent a year “thinking about” the novel.  I had a few false starts that fizzled and I only managed to write a five page prologue.  But in September of this year I jumped back in.  I’ve changed the title (twice), dropped a couple of POVs and made some major casting changes.  What I have left is more than 250 solid pages of kick-butt story.  Now the task is to tighten the story lines and remove the seams.

IN THE QUEUE:  re-write Chapter 7 and clean up a short story submission.

Happy writing!
